British Companies Failing to Protect Employees' Eyesight

A recent survey amongst HR departments across Britain has found that up to 90 per cent of businesses are failing to meet the legal obligations to protect the eyesight of their staff.

According to figures published by the Eyecare Trust, one in ten British companies does not have any form of eye care policy in place for their employees.

Alastair Hall, Head of Health & Safety at Citation said “Businesses have 6 key obligations relating to eye care, including, regular eye tests, proper analysis of work stations, and short screen breaks throughout the day. We often find that employers are unaware of the provisions they should make for employees around eye care regulations”

The Eyecare Trust estimates that absence and reduced productivity due to employees’ eyesight problems costs the British economy around £1.5bn a year.

If you are worried that your business is not properly conforming to health and safety regulations, with regards to eye care or any other areas, then a health & safety specialist from Citation could help.
